A war hero, now disabled had being abducted, tortured to force him to sign a letter against General



The disabled war hero, Mr.J. Asoka Kumara of Kusume Gedera who disappeared while serving in General Sarath Fonseka’s Presidential Election Office at Rajakeeya Mawatha in Colombo on the 11th had been dumped on the road after being brutally beaten up.He was faound near Colombo Town Hall on 13th.He was badly injured and had being admitted to Ward No.7 at
Ragama Teaching Hospital according to news sources.

Mr.J Asoka Kumara ( Resident of Ragama) was a former Sergent who got injured while taking part in Jaya Sikuru Operation in 1995 and then had retired on medical grounds as he had being disabled.

He had been forced to sign a letter against General Sarath Fonseka,Once he had being abducted by an unidentified group of people.The letter content the following details and had being told to sign stating they were true.

1.General Sarath Fonseka gave him a firearm.

2.Gen. Sarath Fonseka and Parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga had an illicit affair with popular teledrama actress Upeksha Swarnamalee (Paba).

3.That Gen. Fonska had told him that his wife should have an illicit affair with Gen.
Fonseka to get his pension.

When he refused to sign for the first time,they had offered cash which he had refused.Then second time the abductors had cut the disabled war hero’s hair and had plucked hair in the eye brows using various tools.Then they had brutally asulted him asking to sign the letter which was unsuccessfull and later abductors had dumped him on the road near Town Hall

Mr. Kumara has told that he had never seen his abductors before and he couldn’t see where he was being tortured as his eyes were covered when he was taken there.When General Sarath Fonseka contested the presidential election this disabled war hero contributed his service to the General for about 1 and 1/2 months in General’s office.
