Malaysia is a successful country.

It is more democratic than Singapore, and it has none of the extreme poverty and corruption found in Indonesia and the Philippines.

In politics, it is Prime Minister Najib Razak's UMNO party against Anwar Ibrahim's People's Front.

UMNO is regarded by some as being somewhat corrupt, and by some as not being sufficiently pro-Israel and pro-Pentagon.



Anwar Ibrahim is suspected of being an agent of the CIA.

Some people suspect that the CIA and its friends want to destabilise and control Malaysia.

Anwar is about to go on trial, yet again, on a charge of sodomy.



What does not help Malaysia's reputation is that, as in the USA and Europe, sometimes the rich and powerful appear to get away with murder.

On 7 February 2010, Rupert Murdoch's Sunday Times reported on the Blog war over the Malaysian Sultan who killed a caddy.

A Malaysian sultan, called Mahmud Iskandar Al-Haj ibni Ismail Al Khalidi, died in January 2010.

Sultan Iskandar was the 24th Sultan of Johor and the eighth king of Malaysia (Nine sultans become king in rotation).

According to The Sunday Times, Sultan Iskandar shot one man dead.

Allegedly, the dead man was a smuggler.

Iskandar was pardoned by his father, the then sultan.

And Sultan Iskandar is alleged to have battered to death a caddy who laughed when he, the Sultan, missed a putt.

In 1981, Iskandar was reportedly reinstated.

Some eyewitnesses challenged Iskandar's reappointment.

They claimed that Iskandar's father, Sultan Ismail, had already lapsed into a coma at the time of the alleged reinstatement.



A blogger, known as Aduka Taruna, is reportedly in trouble with the law after writing a 'rude' comment about Sultan Iskandar.

More blogs containing 'insulting messages' have been noted.

Government ministers say the writers will be brought to court.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said bloggers were free to write about politicians or government policies. (Blog war over the Malaysian Sultan who killed a caddy.)

"But we will not tolerate derogatory statements relating to the late sultan, monarchy or other sensitive issues that may cause disharmony in the country," he said.

Rais Yatim, the minister of information, communications and culture, says it is the bloggers, not the late sultan, who pose a threat to "our lifestyle and laws".
