MOSSAD AND MURDER IN CYPRUS

Lieberman.

1. On the evening of 11 January 2010, Greek Cyprus's most powerful publisher was murdered. (Cyprus newspaper boss gunned down)

On 13 and 14 January 2010, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman visited Greek Cyprus. (Israeli FM begins official visit )

Lieberman was born in Russia. Cyprus has lots of millionaire Russians.

2. In 1998, two Israelis, Yigal Damari and Udi Argov, were arrested near a Cypriot military installation in the fishing village of Zigi.

When the Israelis were arrested, police found listening equipment, a laptop computer, two cellular telephones, five recording devices and eight maps of Cyprus in their apartment. (Bungled Mossad Cyprus affair ends with lesser charges.)

3. "Some 350 Jewish families live today in Cyprus, many of whom arrived in recent years for business. Half of them are Israelis, the rest are mostly British or Russians." (History of the Jews in Cyprus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

4. Israel takes an interest in Greek Cyprus and Greek Cyprus's 'enemy' Turkey.

Mossad was behind a failed coup in Turkey, the Turkish daily newspaper Milliyet reported. (Mossad falls out with certain generals in Turkey?)

Greek and Turkish Cyprus

5. On 13 and 14 January 2010, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman visited Greek Cyprus. (Israeli FM begins official visit )

Greek Cyprus's Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou said that the meeting allowed discussion on matters that would help Cyprus and Israel to improve on 'excellent' relations.

In August 2009, Turkey and Russia signed an agreement to construct a gas pipeline that is intended to run from Ceyhan in Turkey to Ashkelon in Israel, via a transit station in Karpasia in Turkish Cyprus. (Israeli FM begins official visit )

6. How well does Israel get on with Turkey?

Turkey and Israel "appear to be on track to finalise a long delayed multi-million-dollar deal for the delivery of 10 drone aircraft for the Turkish air force", a Turkish official said in mid January 2010 (.Turkey, Israel on track to close drone deal: official)

7. Cyprus President Demetris Christofias has been involved in 16 months of UN talks with Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat aimed at ending Cyprus's division.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman supports the division of Cyprus.

He sees Cyprus as a model for Israelis to copy, a model of ethnic partition. (Cyprus a model of ethnic partition - FM )

Andis Hadjicostis

On 16 January 2010, twelfthbough.blogspot.com/ had some thoughts on the murder, in Nicosia in Cyprus, of Andis Hadjicostis.

Andis Hadjicostis was the chief executive of a media group (DIAS) that opposes the UN-backed effort to reunify Cyprus.

"His newspaper and media were supportive of the broader peace." (The assassination has stirred up instability, according to politicians.)

But, Fanoulla Argyrou writes (Cyprus Action Network of America - The assassination of Andy ...):

"DIAS publishing is an organisation that has held high the flag of resistance against the notorious Annan Plan and contributed proudly to its rejection by the people on 24 April 2004.

"The consortium with its newspaper, Radio and TV gave all its strength in enlightening the people on the parameters and definition of the Annan monstrosity and was proud for the results.

"This result was not liked by the supporters of the Annan Plan, primarily the Turks and the British and Sir David Hannay did not miss the opportunity to blame certain journalists as those responsible for the big NO against the Annan Plan."

Cyprus was split in 1974. Kissinger, the Greek colonels and Turkey are reported to have discussed the splitting up of Cyprus.

Andis Hadjicostis's father is considered a political king-maker who can exert influence on a large portion of Greek Cypriots in connection with a future solution of the Cyprus problem. (Son of influential Cyprus broadcaster shot dead )

Reportedly, the gunman fled on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice. No shell casings were found.

Regarding the shell casings: : "A sign of professional assassins who knew that these casings would easily identify the weapons used and who had plenty of time to collect them."

Greek police say Hadjicostis was warned by an intelligence operative that his life was in danger.

Three men have been arrested for the murder.

One of those arrested is Costas Proestos

Police found €10,000 in cash and a cheque worth €10,000 during a search of Proestos’ residence.

Police spokesman Michalis Katsounotos categorically rejected a report in one newspaper that the person who issued the cheque was a police officer. (Manhunt continues for fourth murder suspect )

Prosecutors said the evidence collected includes fingerprints on a motorcycle helmet visor found near the crime scene, tire treads matching a motorcycle at one suspect's home and CCTV camera footage. An informant also testified of hearing the suspects boast about "a job that would earn them a lot of money," and then about planning and carrying out the murder, Nicosia crimes unit chief Thomas Efthymiou said.

Cyprus - Glen Bowman

Acording to an article at Cyprus Action Network of America (A stunningly brazen murder):

"Andy’s assassination came only hours after the inauguration of the so called intensive talks between President Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader M. Ali Talat.

"His assassination took place almost on the doorstep of the American Embassy in Nicosia (He lived in a very near proximity).

"It was unprecedented for such a killing to take place “in front of the eyes” of the American Embassy and KYP offices (Cyprus Intelligence Service) which are also housed in the same immediate area.

"The freedom with which the killers executed their crime, at a time people are still out and about, (early evening) in such a populated area in Nicosia with so many other Embassies and surveillance cameras, is indeed unprecedented...

"The American Embassy as we all know is equipped with the most modern and sophisticated technology in intelligence and surveillance. For the killers to ignore this factor and relentlessly carry on with the execution of their mission creates a great number of crucial questions as to the identity of these assassins.

"It has been said that the Police inquiries are investigating also economic criteria for the murder. However, economic criteria can easily connect or lead to political behind the scenes criteria and reasons. As we all know it is the business world that keeps or controls political matters...."

Turkey's President Erdogan is to meet with the Greek president in Abu Dhabi towards the end of January 2010.

Israel is to send a Cabinet minister to Abu Dhabi for first time.

Reportedly, Cyprus's Makarios was toppled because he was not a friend of the CIA or the CIA's Greek colonels.

Reportedly Bahrain's Akhbar al-Khaleej newspaper reported that Iraqi scientists were taken to Israel via Cyprus. (Changing Trains)

"Iraqi diplomats ... said that scientists and their families were smuggled into Cyprus where they would be 'tested' by Mossad agents."

It was reported, after the murder of two leading Mossad operatives in Larnaka, Cyprus, that the Black September massacre of Palestinians was a Mossad covert action, led by one of its key operatives, Sylvia Roxburgh. (Mossad "False Flag" Operations - Democratic Underground)

How did Cyprus become split?

According to Michael Jansen, at http://www.greece.org/cyprus/Takism6.htm :

In the early 1970s, a deal was discussed by Greek and Turkish ministers.

According to this deal:

1. Cyprus would be split.

2. A Turkish military base would be set up on Cyprus, on the Karpass Peninsula.

3. The mainly Greek part of the Island would join up with Greece.

The USA was apparently involved in what was happening.

Cyprus's Makarios was seen as being too independent minded; he had left-wing allies; he was a friend of the Arabs; he was opposed to the 'fascist' colonels who ran Greece and who were regarded as CIA assets. (aangirfan: The Importance of Cyprus)
