Elections to the remaining local government bodies to be held in Mid June - Regime planning to use Ban Ki-moon's report against the Opposition as a weapon.

Rajapakse Regime is looking at holding elections to the remaining 101 local government bodies by mid June, an official from the Elections Department said. The regime postphoned several urban councils and municipal councils which are very strongholds of main oppostion UNP saying phostphoning was done due to World Cup. The rest were phostphoned by election commissioner due to court orders (as some parties went to courts regarding the rejection of their nominations lists).

A senior minister of the regime said that Rajapakse is making sure to get the maximum benifit of Ban Ki-moon's report by using it against the oppostion in rest of the local government bodies.

He further said that the President believed that the present situation in the country would help the UPFA win the municipal councils including the Colombo Municipal Council which are strongholds of UNP as mentioned earlier.
