Obama signs Iran sanctions into law

US President Barack Obama signed into a law associated to sanctions on Iran. President Obama said the sanctions were intended to strike at Iran's capacity to finance its nuclear program and deepen its isolation. The measures, on top of new UN Security Council and European sanctions, aim to choke off Iran's access to imports of refined petroleum products like gasoline and jet fuel and curb its access to the international banking system. It is pertinent to mention that the US Senate and House of Representatives approved the legislation for US sanctions against Iran -- by crushing 99-0 and 408-8 margins last week.
