Americans have had presidential debates for 50 years.

In the last US election you were allowed to hear a lot about Obama and McCain.

But you were not allowed to hear much about Bob Barr (Libertarian Party) or Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party).

The recent TV debate in the UK was interesting because the three candidates who were allowed to appear are all in favour of the Afghanistan war and weapons of mass destruction.

Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats want to keep nuclear weapons; they aim to replace Trident with alternative nuclear weapons.

The BBC Trust rejected the anti-nuclear nationalists' appeal over being barred from the TV debate.

Here is what was not said by Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg in the TV debate on 22 April 2010.

DAVID CAMERON:

It's clear from last week's debate that the country wants change.

But the three main parties all support nuclear weapons and the war in Afghanistan.

NICK CLEGG:

We all want to lead on the biggest challenge of all - climate change.

GORDON BROWN:

We all want to consider terrorism.

NICK CLEGG:

Terrorism has its uses.

Remember Operation Northwoods?

That was the Pentagon's plan to carry out acts of terrorism in the USA and blame it on the Cubans.

DAVID CAMERON:

Did someone mention the London Tube Bombings?

NICK CLEGG:

That convinced some people that we had to be at war.

GORDON BROWN:

We all want to help the war industries, which are so important to the economy.

Cameron (Conservative), Clegg (Liberal-Democrat) , Brown (Labour)

NICK CLEGG:

Remember Operation Gladio?

That was essential to keep the left wing out of power in Europe.

GORDON BROWN:

The Bologna Bombing was the work agents of the USA and NATO.

But, look, we wanted our friends in power in Italy, Turkey, Greece, and elsewhere.

That's politics.

DAVID CAMERON:

Some of my friends have never heard of Operation Northwoods or Operation Gladio.

NICK CLEGG:

But they have heard of Miley Cyrus.

GORDON BROWN:

We can all be thankful for Operation Mockingbird, CIA control of the media.

DAVID CAMERON:

Very few people have ever heard of Operation Mockingbird.

NICK CLEGG:

That's because of Operation Mockingbird.

GORDON BROWN:

When I was invited to join the CIA, I learnt that a lot of top politicians in this country are working for the security services.

DAVID CAMERON:

But we must give the appearance of believing in democracy.

Vince Cable, who is Jewish, is a top UK Liberal Democrat.

Vince Cable joined Shell in 1990.

He was appointed chief economist in 1995, the same year as the writer Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other leaders of the southern Nigerian Ogoni ethnic group were executed by Nigeria's military government.

This was after a lot of state-sponsored violence in the south.

In a court in New York, Campaigners accused Shell of complicity in the violence in order to protect its oil interests.
