Did the assassins of al-Mabhouh in Dubai have fake passports?
Seemingly not.

Reports quoting Raffi Shamir (UK Tel Aviv embassy spokesman Raffi Shamir) "now acknowledge the passport number and names of the British citizens correspond." (Plot gets thicker as British names traced in Israel )

This could mean some of the assassins were working for MI6?
The assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh occured on 19 January 2010 in a hotel room in Dubai.
On 11 January 2010, Sir John Sawers, Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service MI6, met Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in Riyadh. (Saudi King Al Saud met with MI6 Chief Sir John Sawers.)
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal; Assistant Chief of General Intelligence Prince Abdulaziz bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel A. Al-Jubeir; and British Ambassador to the Kingdom William Patey.
