Missile strikes in Libya

More than 98 people have been killed in the US led attack on Libya, the state TV of Libya reported on Sunday. French and British forces blasted Libyan air defenses and armor, drawing intense volleys of tracer and antiaircraft fire over Tripoli at the start of a campaign aimed at protecting rebel-held areas. Missiles hit near the headquarters of Col Gaddafi in Tripoli and the Libyan Army was responding with anti-aircraft guns. The African Union has demanded to stop the attack. The US Vice Admiral William Gortney said in a press briefing in Washington that French fighter jets and US and British warships, fired more than 110 cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, struck multiple military targets and destroyed oil reserves in Misratah. France denied Libyan state television s claim that a French warplane was shot down. Libyan officials accused international forces of hitting a hospital and other civilian targets. Libya called the strike a baseless military aggression that took the lives of many people.
