Percy Mahinda's Regime won 205, 9 for UNP, 12 for ITAK out of 234 Local Goverment Bodies

Rajapakse Regime had won 205 LG bodies out of 234, United National Party (UNP) had won 9 and Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) had won 12, SLMC 04, National Congress 02, UPF 01, Independent Group 01

The Popularity of Rajapakse Family Regime has gone down in most of the areas compared to the percentage of votes they polled in last General Election. While UNP voter percentage has gone up so far except in Northern Province, where UNP was washed off completly.

JVP lost it's stronghold Thissamaharamma and slipped down to 3rd place while UNP became opposition their....

If JVP had contested in a coaltion with UNP, Oppostion would have won more local goverment bodies. Also if SLMC was with UNP, such a coalition would have also helped to gain some more Local Bodies as well.

Also Urban Counncils Postphoned by Dictator Percy would have easily won by UNP or ITAK if kept with yeasterday's election.

Beginning of the downfall and end of  Dictator Percy and his family Regime is not much far away...

JVP Loses Tissamaharama and Placed 3rd !

The JVP has lost the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha which was previously held by them. The UPFA has obtained the power of the PS with 14,523 votes with seven seats, while the UNP received 8,344 votes with three seats. The JVP has received 7,767 votes with only two seats. So far the JVP has not able to win any council in 2011 election.

It was the JVP who helped Dictator Rajapakse to Win in 2005 Presedential Election and now they are receiving their gifts in a raw for bringing an uneducated thug to the leadership  !

Mervyn Silva, Chandana and Wimal assigned to Tissa to defeat the JVP ?

Percy Mahinda has assigned Minister and Thug MEryn Silva, Wimal Weerawansa and Chandana Kathriarachchi ( who was recently released from murder charges ) to campaign for the government in the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha to prevent the JVP from winning it.

Percy Mahinda had advised these persons to somehow ensure a UPFA victory in the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha. Minister Mervyn Silva and Chandana Kathriarachchi have already arrived in Tissamaharama with their underworld thugs and murderers

It is learnt that they are trying to create a fear psychosis in the area.

Opposition Parties Condemn Dirty Work done by Mahinda Abesundara - UNP / JVP

Vijitha Herath critisied Pro Government Journalist & Percy Mahinda's Presidential Advisor Mahinda Abesundara ( ,script writer) of Vimasumma Programme on ITN and said the leader of the Government including the Sports Minister should apologize to the cricketers

Opposition Parlimentarian Vijitha Herath addressing a media conference held at its Party Head Quarters further said that , “He is an Advisor to the President.  This is a very serious statement. What is the evidence for such a match fixing allegation? The Government is always trying to claim or gain credit of the success of others.  If the match was won by Lions, it is the same leaders who will festoon the players.  We consider this as a very low slung statement by the Government which is incapable of bearing the loss. The Government always reacts in the same manner.  If the prices of commodities increase they put the blame on floods. If it is decreased they acclaim the ‘Mahinda Chintanaya’.

The Leader of the country should make an elucidation to the masses with regard to this statement” said Mr Herath.

UNP too critisized this incident, MP Harshana Rajakarunna of Gampaha mentioned, if some people start believe on what Mahnida Abesundara said, their will be a risk on the lives of both Mahela Jayawardena as well as Thilan Samaraweera.

It is reported that Namal Rajapakse too was behind this mud sligging campaign against 2 Sri Lanka Middle Order batsmans with Percy Mahinda's Matara MP S Jayasuriya. Also now people are becoming aware of the real traitors of the motherland who are tarnishing the  image of Sri Lanka & it's heroes.

Percy Mahinda & his Goverment goons sent Common Oppostion Presidential Candidate, True Winner of the pres. election, the war hero General Sarath Fonseka to jail for 2 1/2 years earlier.

Protest by JVP in Sri Lanka - Is this the beginning of uprise in Sri Lanka ?

Lipton Circus would be another Cairo – says Oppostion JVP Member Tilvin Silva (Sri Lanka)

The protest movement that commenced today would not be the last but is the beginning of the struggle that would end the government and the capitalist system that suppresses the masses says the Leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe. He said this speaking at the agitation held at the end of the ‘protest walk’ that marched from Campbell Park to Lipton Circle today (1st).

The JVP organized the ‘Protest March’ to demand the government to bring down the cost of living that goes up day by day. The Leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarasinghe addressing the massive crowd said, “The President and the current government gave a promise to the masses in this country in 2005. If this promise had been kept the prices of essential commodities would not go up today. Vegetables would not be so costly. The President, as the Minister of Finance, has increased taxes; has imposed heavy fines. As a result people from North to South and from East to West are distressed.

A minister had said Sri Lanka was a heaven. Next, the Prime Minister had said people have to suffer today to be happy tomorrow. Who has to suffer? It is the people who have to suffer according to them. We say people should not suffer but the President, the Prime Minister and Ministers should set an example to the people.

Rajapakses cannot suppress this voice of the people. Let’s bring to an end the period of lies. Let’s take this struggle forward.”

The General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva addressing the protestors said, “Earlier the people said the governemtn has two alternatives. One was to provide relief to masses and give the people an opportunity to spend their lives leisurely. The next alternative was for the government to resign. However, now there are no two alternatives. There is only one. The government should go home. This government has proved that it cannot develop the country. If the government is not prepared to bow down we have to make it go away.

There were torrential rains in several districts including Polonnaruwa, Ampara, Anuradhapura and Batticaloa. The cultivations were ruined because of the rain. Billions were sent by various countries and organizations to provide relief to these people. Did the people who were distressed receive this aid? According to our sources these billions received as relief for the people are being distributed in Hambantota as election baits. Time has come to send Mahinda’s government home. Be prepared to send them home.

This period is not a good time for dictators. Masses in Tunisia, Egypt have taken to the roads. Ministers here say it would not happen here. We would like to say it would happen here as well. No ruler has been able to stay when masses decide to send them home. This is relevant to Tunisia, Egypt and to Mahinda as well.

The Member of the Political Bureau of the JVP Anura Dissanayake addressing the protestors said, “This government cannot increase salaries of state employees nor that of estate workers. It cannot bring down the prices of essential commodities. They cannot generate jobs. This social system that is incapable of providing what the people need should be cast aside. A social system that could provide relief to the people, generate jobs, an administration that could maintain law and order in the country should be developed. People should struggle to create such a society. They should rally for a new journey.”

MASSES STRUGGLING TO SAVE HUNGER 'WICKET' FROM COL 'BOUNCER', SAYS OPPOSITION MP HERATH

The 'Chinthanaya' has done incredible things. Those who used to steal money and gold have transformed themselves to steal dhal, potatoes and sugar” says Vijitha Hearath, parlimenterian from JVP from Gampaha. Addressing a media briefing yesterday, Vijitha Herath mentioned that the Cost of Living 'bouncer' is coming like a thunderbolt and the masses are are doing their best to save the hunger 'wicket'. “The Minister of Consumer Affairs Jony says coconuts have been imported. The Minister of Coconut Development Jagath Pushpakumara says coconuts have not been brought. It has become a situation where the people are going nuts. “Earlier, gold or money were the items that were stolen in this country. But today with the power of the Chinthanaya, potatoes, dhal, sugar and milk powder have become the most stolen items. “The bouncer called the Cost of Living is coming down like a thunderbolt towards the masses and they are struggling to save the wicket known as hunger,” said by him.

We Will organize a Libya type protests - Says Vijitha Herath

It is the responsibility of the political parties to organize a people’s struggle similar to other countries like Libya. The JVP will undertake this responsibility on behalf of the masses, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said today in a press conference.

Most political analyst point out that if JVP can get the support of UNP & other minor parties for such a protest, it will be not imposible to do like what happend in Egypt & Tunisia, while in progress in Libya.

Currently the Country is ruled by President Percy Mahinda & his UPFA Coalition.

Attorney General’s Department Biased Towards The Ruling Party (UPFA) - Claims JVP

The JVP has accused the Attorney General’s Department of being biased towards the governing party without safeguarding the public officials.

JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told a press conference that the people need to be aware of the current state of the judiciary and understand that the cases being heard against the rejection of nomination lists was more than what appears to be.

He also said that the governing UPFA and the main opposition UNP should not have challenged the rejection of its nomination lists, but accept the shortcomings on their part.

“If there has been a shortcoming in preparing the nomination lists, it has to be accepted. Two of our lists were also rejected and when our legal experts looked at them and explained things to us, we realized that we had made a mistake, so we did not file a case,” he said.
Dissanayake noted that in the event a political party has violated the laws that have been approved by them in parliament in the first place, it was fair for the nomination lists to be rejected on those grounds.

He also said the JVP would take legal action if the rejected nomination lists of the UPFA and UNP for the local government bodies in Akmemana, Akuressa and Moneragala Pradeshiya Sabhas were given the green light by courts.

Also in our web site, we did point out that this is an illegal move, ( even to postphone !) taking in to account what happened to UNP's Colombo Municipal Council nomination papers when they when to court last time. If by any decision, as JVP point out too, If green light is given for above rejections, it will be a black mark for Sri Lanka Internationally.

Police in uniform have threatened JVP Pedirithuduwa Municipal council candidate : They have intimidated her not to contest and withdraw the candidature

In a notice signed and issued by Dr. Uditha Gunasekera , the chief Executive of the elections monitoring intellectual chain concerning human rights, (N E M I H R) had stated, a group of police officers in uniforms of the Pedirithuduwa police had gone to the residence of Thavarasa Pushparani the Pedirithuduwa Municipal council JVP candidate and threatened her to resign from the candidature.

The NEMIHR says, the police which should be acting without favor or prejudice in regard to the elections and which is its responsibility, is instead engaging in acts of frightening and intimidating candidates of political parties and stooping to be the political lackeys and cronies of politicians. While flagrantly violating the election laws ,these police officers by conducting themselves this way are abusing the police powers and are directly acting in breach of their disciplinary code, the NEMIHR pinpointed. The police have no rights under the law or code of conduct to threaten any candidate .Every citizen has a right to contest. As these violations are being committed from the very outset , they are a serious threat to the conduct of a free and fair elections in the North, according to the NEMIHR.

The NEMIHR has therefore urged the Elections commissioner and the IGP to intervene immediately with a view to stopping further escalation in this direction.. Source ; www.lankaenews.com

A massive protest was organized by the JVP was held in Colombo on 16th demanding the government to release General Sarath Fonseka who was abducted (illegally arrested) and is being detained without any charges at Nevy Headquarters.JVP Leader Somanwansha Amarasinghe,Anura Dissanayake and Lal Kanthe addressed the massive protest. This was the only rally (so far held) which was not attacked by either police or government thugs(may be regarding the massive number of protesters!)

Also their had being a Sathyagra in Kotte for the second day organized by UNP Kotte (New)Organizer Shiral Lakthilake.Wife of General Sarath Fonseka (Anoma Fonseka) too participated. She said that General Fonseka is not kept in a Luxurious place as some says and also said that the windows of the flat in which General is detained is closed by planks. She also said that if they hope that they can mentally depress and weaken her husband, they are sadly mistaken.

(UNF is a coalition formed by UNP while PA & UPFA are coalitions of SLFP and some other parties-The Ruling party had a majority support but then President Chandrika Kumaranathunga dissolved the parliament using her executive presidential powers which she later said it was a big mistake done by her in her life).

General Sarath Fonseka's Abduction by Military Police and the Protest against it

According to many sources it is a abduction. He was the main opposition candidate who was said to have won the Presidential Election 2010 in Sri Lanka but some Ruling Party members had altered the results it seems, in order for their ruling party candidate to further be in power. This has become thrue with the abduction of General Sarath Fonseka.

This is against both common law and military law acoording to well known lawyers in Sri Lanka. Also the funny side is that,if he is taken due to military law he should be kept at some Army building but now he is abducted and kept in a Nevy building. So this is thruly done in order to restrict General S F from signing the election pettion to be filed and to keep him away from contesting the upcoming General Election.

The most respected Mallwatte thero and Asgiri thero condemed the incident and criticized the responsible people for the abduction.

Also the massive protest against the abduction of General Sarath Fonseka was attacked by thugs of government infront of the police(they were protecting the thugs). When the protesters some how managed to chase away the around 30 -50 thugs who came, the police started to chase the protesters in which the police were unsuccessfull as the protesters did not leave the place.
