Kochi Tuskers Defends the Low Score against KKR - Great Captaincy by Mahela and good allround Performance by Ravidra Jadeja

Kochi Tuskers Kerala 132 for 7 (Jadeja 29, Yusuf 3-20, Shakib 3-28) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 126 for 9 (M Tiwary 46, RP Singh 2-25, Jadeja 2-25) by six runs

Kochi Tuskers Kerala won a battle of attrition against Kolkata Knight Riders lead by Gambir on a slow Eden Gardens pitch to move to the third position in the points table. The wicket did not play as low as it did in Kolkata's win against Rajasthan Royals, but it was just as slow, making it difficult for batsmen, and a delight for the spinners.

After Yusuf Pathan and Shakib Al Hasan had taken six wickets for 48 runs between them to restrict Kochi to 132, Kolkata's powerful batting line-up would have fancied the modest chase. But Kochi's own army of spinners - Muttiah Muralitharan, Ramesh Powar and Ravindra Jadeja - stifled the runs though they did not get as many wickets, and ensured the pressure got to the Kolkata batsmen, who fell six runs short.

As it transpired, the performance against the new-ball bowlers was the difference between the two sides. Kolkata's seamers conceded 26 for 0 in their first three overs, while Kochi's fast bowlers dismissed Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir, while conceding only 20 runs in their first four overs. Kallis fell to the hook for the second time running, swinging Vinay Kumar straight to deep square leg. Gambhir played inside the line of a full delivery from RP Singh that straightened and uprooted middle stump as Kolkata began to stutter.

In the next over, Manvinder Bisla drove outside the line of a Jadeja delivery to lose his off stump. Manoj Tiwary and Eoin Morgan tried to work the ball around but the spinners were getting turn, and their different styles posed problems. Muralitharan, back after being left out for the previous two games, varied his flight and angle brilliantly, Jadeja fired the ball in, and Powar stuck to flight as he always does.

The mounting asking-rate led to Morgan charging out of his crease in the 13th over for a non-existent single, and Jayawardene threw down the middle stump with a direct hit which was likely to be the turning point of the match. Tiwary took on RP Singh in the next over with consecutive boundaries, but Shakib missed a low full toss off the last ball to be bowled.

Yusuf after hammering a six, got dismissed in the next bowl of Power. Jadeja saw Tiwary charge out and had him stumped off a wide delivery down the leg side who looks bit threating for Kochi Spinners.

Bhatia refused to give up, taking 12 off RP Singh's last over, the 19th. But 14 off the last over proved to be too much, and Vinay Kumar throttled them with a succession of slower deliveries, to give Kochi the game.

Some senior goverment  Minister had already asked President to axe him off his current positions held in the Goverment. Also it is reported that (baba) Namal & Sana was behind the scene.

UPFA Government Heavyweights Urge MR to axe Mahinda Abesundara from all his current posts !

According to the news we received, the several Government heavyweights had asked President Mahinda Rajapakse to take immediate action to remove Mahinda Abesundara from all the posts currently holding which were offered to him by President as well as by Government to protect Namal Rajapakse who too had being criticized for bogus match fixing charges leveled against Mahela Jayawardena and Thilan Samaraweera.

Opposition Parties Condemn Dirty Work done by Mahinda Abesundara - UNP / JVP

Vijitha Herath critisied Pro Government Journalist & Percy Mahinda's Presidential Advisor Mahinda Abesundara ( ,script writer) of Vimasumma Programme on ITN and said the leader of the Government including the Sports Minister should apologize to the cricketers

Opposition Parlimentarian Vijitha Herath addressing a media conference held at its Party Head Quarters further said that , “He is an Advisor to the President.  This is a very serious statement. What is the evidence for such a match fixing allegation? The Government is always trying to claim or gain credit of the success of others.  If the match was won by Lions, it is the same leaders who will festoon the players.  We consider this as a very low slung statement by the Government which is incapable of bearing the loss. The Government always reacts in the same manner.  If the prices of commodities increase they put the blame on floods. If it is decreased they acclaim the ‘Mahinda Chintanaya’.

The Leader of the country should make an elucidation to the masses with regard to this statement” said Mr Herath.

UNP too critisized this incident, MP Harshana Rajakarunna of Gampaha mentioned, if some people start believe on what Mahnida Abesundara said, their will be a risk on the lives of both Mahela Jayawardena as well as Thilan Samaraweera.

It is reported that Namal Rajapakse too was behind this mud sligging campaign against 2 Sri Lanka Middle Order batsmans with Percy Mahinda's Matara MP S Jayasuriya. Also now people are becoming aware of the real traitors of the motherland who are tarnishing the  image of Sri Lanka & it's heroes.

Percy Mahinda & his Goverment goons sent Common Oppostion Presidential Candidate, True Winner of the pres. election, the war hero General Sarath Fonseka to jail for 2 1/2 years earlier.

Mahela to take legal action against ITN & Mud Sligging Mahinda Abesundara

Mahela Jayawardene, former captain who lead Sri Lanka to the final in 2007 world cup now  Vice- Captain of Sri Lanka team had taken a firm decesion to take legal action against Independent Television Network (ITN) for telecasting a programme that accused he had been involved in fixing the match played with Pakistan for money where he got out to Akthar for a very low score.

In the ‘Vimasuma’ programme telecasted after the news broadcast of the ITN, it accused former captain Mahela Jayawardene and middle order batsman Tilan Samaraweera were involved in match fixing and gave away the match for financial gains. Speaking to BBC Mahela has said he had instructed his lawyers to take measures to take legal action against the ITN for telecasting the programme as well as against mud sligging Mahinda Abesundara.

Most of the viewers of our site as well as many other online portal viewers were so sad to here when such a thing was done by a money crazy Mahinda Abesundara. Some suggest that he might have being forced to do such a thing by a very senior player who was in the last 30 but axed from last 15 for the World Cup 2011.

Mahela & Thilan was Engaged in Match Fixing ! - Accuses "Vimasuma" - ITN Post News Programme

"Vimasuma programmme " (on 27th) by Presidential Advisor Mahinda Abesundra (Script Writer )  accused both Mahela and Thilan for involving in match fixing which resulted in Sri Lanka loosing to Pakistan.

But the Sri Lankan cricket analysts says this is one of the biggest horrible thing to do & only a traitor could do such a thing. Also they were saying that this could affect the mentallity of the players to a greater extent while our players will have a risk of facing match fixing charges internationally.

Who is this Mahinda Abesundara ?

He was a very loyal person to then President Chandrika (CBK) and he did a post ITN News programme called as "Viparamma" where his job was to sling mud at UNP and it's leader Ranil Wickramasinghe during that time. When Percy Mahinda became president, he was offered the main editor's post in "Dinaminna" Goverment Sinhala Weekly news paper while he changed the name of Viparamma to Vimasumma and was continuing his mud sliging job against oppostion parties (but now against cricket heroes).

Lions Starts with a powerful victory - Full Match World Cup HighLights

For the many who slammed the ICC's decision to expel Associates from the next World Cup, this was a bad day. After Kenya were embarrassed by a modest New Zealand team, Canada desperately needed to showcase why minnow teams belong on the global stage. Instead they were overwhelmed by 210 runs against Sri Lanka, who opened their World Cup campaign as emphatically as their co-hosts India did on Saturday.

Mahela Jayawardene stroked his way to the fastest World Cup hundred by a Sri Lankan, sharing a 176-run stand with his captain Kumar Sangakkara, before the home side's pace bowlers rushed through a hapless Canadian line-up to deliver a crushing victory.

After India's fervoured opening in Mirpur, proceedings at Hambantota felt much more leisurely, and with a combination of sight screen problems and a few injuries, it took the visitors four hours to get through their fielding effort. For the first 20 overs of Sri Lanka's innings the scoring rate was almost as sluggish - despite a 59-ball half-century for Tillakaratne Dilshan - as Canada demonstrated the ideal model for Associate cricket. Disciplined dobbers combined with swift fielding and a slowish track to keep Sri Lanka in check.

It was only when Jayawardene arrived that Sri Lanka's campaign really kicked into gear. He was in total control, threading the spinners through the finest gaps and caressing boundaries at will. Sangakkara was not quite as fluent, needing 47 deliveries to find his first boundary. He survived two moments of alarm, when he was dropped on 12 by by 16-year-old Nitish Kumar, on as a substitute, and again on 48 by the rotund legspinner Balaji Rao.

Jayawardene barely mistimed a ball but twice survived reviews from Canada captain Ashish Bagai, who was convinced he was out caught behind. On both occasions the appeal was spontaneous and exuberant but the UDRS - without Snicko and HotSpot - revealed nothing. With those behind him, Jayawardene's glances, chips, pick-up-sweeps and even a reverse-thwack toyed with an attack that faded under pressure.

There was no route back for Canada as the pair cashed in against a tiring attack. It's becoming one of cricket's more quirky stats that Sangakkara can't seem to reach three figures in ODI cricket anymore. His last century was in June 2008 and he has now gone 60 matches without a hundred, despite scoring heavily over the period.

He had the ideal opportunity today, but inexplicably popped a gentle return catch to John Davison when eight runs short. By this stage the only trouble for Jayawardene was the heat and he looked exhausted as he crawled the single to bring up his record-breaking century.

While victory was always going to be beyond them, a competitive showing with the bat would have lifted the spirits of a dank World Cup day but Canada's top order folded against a sparky new-ball pairing. The hulking Thislan Perera proved too quick for John Davison and Zubin Sukari before returning later to snare Bagai. The looming threat of rain forced Sangakkara to swap seam for spin to rush to 20 overs - the minimum needed to constitute a match - but once that threat cleared Sri Lanka's job was as good as done.

At 40, Davison has had plenty of experience but appears to be trading off the World Cup century he made eight years ago. In the build-up Canada were keen to point to the clutch of youngsters who had come through their Under-19s side but come the day Kumar and Hiral Patel - their two bright batting talents - were left out. After today's showing both can expect to make their senior World Cup debuts soon.

Rizwan Cheema offered a glimpse of the big-hitting that gave England a fright but by that stage that game was meandering towards the inevitable. After two matches and two crushing defeats, the Associates are doing the ICC's case no harm at all.
