The Court of Appeal has decided to reject 3 petitions filed against the rejection of nomination papers. Court stated that the petitions will be rejected as there is no clear reason to take them up for hearing.
The petitions filed were by the United National Party for the Eravur Pradeshiya Sabha, by the Lanka Sama Samaja Party for the Kuchchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha and by an independent group for the Kanthale Pradeshiya Sabha.
The verdict was issued today (March 14) by Judges Sathya Hettige, President of the Court of Appeal and Upali Abeyratne.
But Pradeshiya Sabha's where UPFA Filed petitions were postphoned in most cases. This does questions about the impartiality of the decisions made but everything has a limit. Most in Sri Lanka gets the feeling that end of Dictator Percy Mahinda's Regime is very much closer than expected ( It is likely that, he too will be chased out like some middle east dictators ).
