Ravi Karunanayke Appointed as the new UNP National Organizer

The UNP working comitee meeting to select a suitable person for the vacant post of National Organizer(Once SB left UNP and Joined UPFA Regime) was ended short while ago. It is reported that he was being appointed without going for any kind of voting and was confirmed by Party Secretary Tissa Attanayake.

The Colombo Destrict UNP Parlimenterian is a UNP heavyweight and faced severe problems when Chandrika was the President. He is one of the prominent UNP parlimenterians who critisize the anti democratic regime of Mahinda.

It was reported earlier that Ranjith Maddumma Bandara and Mangala Samaraweera too had an idea of contesting fot that post.

Dayasiri Jayasekera asks for National Organizer post while Ravi K to be given a top post

UNP parliamentarian from Kurunegala Destrict Dayasiri Jayasekera has asked newly appointed deputy leader Hon. Sajith Premadasa to intervene in order to get him appointed as the National Organizer.


Although appointments were made to almost every key position in the party at yesterdayWorking Committee meeting, the appointing of a national Organizer has been postponed to the next Working Committee meeting scheduled to be held on Monday (28).



The UNP Leader has said the position would be given to Ravi Karunanayake. However, it is learnt that Ravi, who is a senior member in the party has refused to accept the post of National Organizer. Any way political anaylaysts says he does not suit for that post as comments made against Sri lankan Army by him in past had affetced badly to the party.


It is learnt that a discussion had taken place last night to explore the possibility of making a constitutional amendment in order to create a top post in the party for Ravi like the creation of an additional deputy leader post for Sajith.
