I wrote the match fixing script against Middle Order Batsman Mahela & Thilan for Vimasumma as I was being pressurized by Namal Baby and MP S Jayasuriya - says Mahinda

Mahinda Abeysundera, editor of dinamina government newspaper,  had told several members from the newspaper's editorial board that he had written the script against senior Sri Lankan cricket player Mahela Jayawardena & Thilan Samaraweera for the Vimasuma programme on ITN as it was a firm requests made by the Percy Mahinda's eldest son (Namal Baby) and former captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team, MP Sanath Jayasuriya. Abeysundera had made this comment in response to a statement made by several members from the Dinamina editorial that the Vimasuma programme telecast on ITN had caused much psychological distress to the Sri Lankan players.

Members of the Sri Lanka cricket team believe that the President, who releases statements for any issue, and Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage have remained silent about the matter without stating anything due to the involvement of certain government politicians in the matter as well as his son.

It is learnt that Jayasuriya is angry with the Sri Lanka cricket team captain Kumar Sangakkara, vice captain Jayawardena and selector Aravinda de Silva for not including him in the World Cup cricket team.

Sangakkara and Jayawardena did not participate in the press conference held after the Kenya-Sri Lanka match and cricketer Lasith Malinga and several team officials participated in it. When a journalist posed a question about the telecast on ITN, the team official said that Sri Lanka Cricket was planning on taking legal action against the channel.
